23rd Annual Conference - Report

18th – 20th FEBRUARY 2011

Multiple District 105 Lioness Clubs Chairman Pam Kyte welcomed all to Conference.

Conference commenced with registration on the Friday afternoon. An Exhibition & Stalls was open for all to browse around until it was time to prepare for the evening’s activities. This year the theme was ‘Strictly Lionesses’ Entertainment for the evening was by Andrew Nix and his ‘Roland Atelier’ organ. During the evening there was a competition between members of the top table whose dancing was judged by all. The winners being District Governor Eric Wright and his wife Dorothy. Well done to them.

Saturday morning and it is down to Business.

Conference stood to welcome the top table guests: Multiple District 105 Lioness Clubs Chairman Pam Kyte, Council Chairman PDG Lion Jacquie Prebble, Lioness Clubs Co-ordinator Lion Chris Ramsden, District Governor of our Host District C, Lion Eric Wright, and The Right Worshipful The Mayor of  Wakefield Metropolitan District Councillor Tony Wallis together with their partners.

Music was provided by the Wakefield Youth Brass Band and the Pontefract Air Training corps provided the flag party.

Following the opening ceremony some partners were taken on a tour of Wakefield.

After a break for coffee, the first business session began with Advisory Body reports presented by the individual officers, followed by nominations and resolutions.

Number of Lioness Clubs represented was 14, number of Lionesses present 53 and number of Lions present 28.

There were 2 resolutions to be debated, both were passed.

NOMINATION:Lioness Angela Howard

The one nomination was for the position of MD Lioness Secretary. As there had not been any names put forward for this position, nominations were taken from the floor and PMDLC Lioness Angela Howard was duly elected to stand for the 2 years 2011 – 2013.

 

LUNCH

 During the lunch break the scrap book judging took place and various stalls visited

Lioness ConferenceAfter lunch and the completion of the Advisory Body Reports we were addressed by Chairman of Council PDG Lion Jacquie Prebble.

During the evening the grand prize draw took place

SUNDAY MORNING:

After a good night’s sleep and an excellent breakfast, the final session of Conference began. In a change to previous years this morning was a Lioness Clubs Morning when clubs were invited to do a presentation on one of their fundraising events.

Conference concluded with the singing of Land of Hope & Glory and Auld Lang Syne.

We meet again for the 24th Annual Conference at the Holiday Inn, London Elstree, from 17th to 19th February 2012
